Placement and use
Set agave back from paths, steps, gates, play areas, and the working edge of vegetable or cutting beds. Keep its spiny leaf tips out of normal reaching and passing space, especially where a path narrows beside a wall, fence, or patio. Use it as an accent in a dry, sunny border, a rock-garden-style planting, or a spacious bed beside hardscape where the rosette can be seen without becoming an obstacle. Place lower, non-spiny plants in front only if they do not conceal its outline or block access around it.
