Placement and use
Give this vine the outside edge of a large vegetable bed, where runners can travel away from paths and smaller crops. A ground-level planting needs an open 6-foot run; avoid placing it where vines will spill into a main circulation route or cover low neighboring plants. Where ground space is limited, train it onto a sturdy trellis or cage and keep the structure at the bed edge so it does not shade the rest of the planting area. Leave a reachable side for watering, checking flowers, and gathering fruit.[1]
