Placement and use
Give chocolate vine a robust pergola, fence line, wall framework, or other freestanding structure with enough height and depth for long stems. Keep its base out of tight foundation beds, shrub borders, and tree-root zones, since the vine can quickly occupy nearby vegetation as well as its intended support. Place it beside a path, patio edge, or other accessible route so stems can be reached for training and pruning without stepping through neighboring plantings.[1][2]
