Cilantro is a short-lived annual herb that reaches about 18 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Its quick turnover makes it useful for filling open pockets in vegetable beds rather than claiming a permanent border position. Plan for spring and fall harvests, and leave nearby planting space available for replacement sowings as earlier plants finish.

Direct sowing suits cilantro well, since its taproot can make transplanting less reliable. Give it a dedicated strip or small repeating patches where new seedlings can replace bolting plants without disrupting neighboring crops. If growing in containers, choose a broad container with enough surface area for successive small sowings instead of relying on a single crowded clump.[1][3]
