Placement and use
Place it at the base of a strong, durable structure with enough clear height and surface area for the vine to develop over many years. Brick, stone, wood, fences, arbors, and trunks of large trees can provide a climbing surface; avoid assigning it to a lightweight panel or narrow decorative obelisk. Keep the planting position outside the main path line so lateral growth does not crowd circulation, gates, windows, or maintenance access. A north- or east-facing wall can turn a bare shaded expanse into a planted feature.[1][2][3]
