Placement and use
Give fennel a back-row or island position where its height will not block shorter crops or shade a narrow path. A spot beside a fence, at the rear of an herb border, or in a dedicated pollinator strip lets its airy stems read as a vertical accent while leaving harvesting access from one side. Keep it out of close company with dill, and reserve a separate section of the plan away from tomatoes, beans, cabbage, cucumbers, cilantro, onions, lettuce, and broccoli.
