Placement and use
Use Littleleaf Linden as a lawn specimen or as the large, upper layer of an open property planting. Set it well back from buildings, driveways, and narrow side yards so the mature crown has room to develop without forcing hard pruning. Keep paths, seating areas, and frequently used entries outside the main canopy footprint; the dense shade will become an important part of how nearby spaces are used. Avoid treating it as a confined street-tree planting where rooting space and canopy room are limited.[1]
