Placement and use
Set maidenhair fern along a shaded path edge, beneath a tree canopy, or through the quieter foreground of a woodland-style bed. Keep it close enough to a path or stepping stone for watering and for removing tired fronds, but leave the planting area itself undisturbed. Its airy foliage reads especially well when grouped in a repeated drift rather than isolated as a single small accent. Reserve the sunniest and driest bed edges for other plants.[1][2]
