Placement and use
Give this vine a durable vertical framework: a fence, arbor, pergola, trellis, or wall with enough height and length for long stems to travel. Set it where the summer canopy will not overwhelm lower plantings, narrow paths, gates, or access to a structure. Tendrils take hold as stems extend, so install the support before planting and leave a reachable edge for directing or cutting back growth.[1][2]
