Placement and use
Give Smoke Tree a sunny position at the back or outer edge of a large bed, where its height can rise behind lower shrubs and perennials without narrowing the planting area. It works especially well as a single focal plant or repeated in a loose boundary planting, with open ground around its branching form. Keep it away from tight corners, narrow side yards, and the inside edge of paths so its broad canopy does not crowd circulation as it matures.[1][2]
