Placement and use
Set Sweet Flag where the soil stays reliably moist: along pond margins, beside a stream course, at the base of a damp bank, or in the wetter zone of a rain garden. Use it as a low foreground band in front of taller moisture-loving plants, leaving a clear strip between the foliage and paths so the planting edge does not crowd circulation. It also suits containers at a water’s edge when the root zone can remain wet. In hot summer locations, give it afternoon shade rather than an exposed, baking position.[1][2]
