Placement and use
Set Asian pear where a second compatible Asian pear can be included nearby for cross-pollination, rather than treating it as a stand-alone specimen. Give the trees an open, sunny position with a clear route from path to canopy for pruning, thinning, and picking. Place the pair away from overhead wires and away from surfaces where fallen ripe fruit would be troublesome. Chives, garlic, borage, chamomile, and comfrey can be accommodated at the outer edge of the planting area without crowding the trunk zone.[1][2][3]
