Placement and use
Place bayberry in the back or middle of a deep border, along a property edge, or in a broad planting bed where its rounded mass will not obstruct paths or windows. It suits coastal hedges and other open, sunny edges. Keep the planting line far enough from walks, drives, and building corners that an 8-foot-wide shrub can mature without repeated shearing. A grouped planting can also form a substantial screen while retaining a natural, informal outline.
