Placement and use
Use Bergenia cordifolia along the front of shade borders, beside walks, or in broad drifts beneath open-canopy plantings. Its slowly spreading clumps suit a groundcover role and give paths a firm, year-round edge. Set it where the foliage can remain visible rather than burying it behind taller perennials; reserve a reachable bed edge so faded flower stems and weather-marked leaves can be removed without stepping into the planting.[1][2]
