Placement and use
Set bitter melon at the base of a sturdy trellis, fence, or other vertical support instead of letting it run through a mixed bed. A 6-foot-tall trellis gives the vines a clear route upward, while a structure set along the back or north side of a sunny bed helps prevent the foliage from overtaking shorter crops. Leave a path or open working side beside the support so new growth can be guided and fruits can be picked regularly.[1][2][3]
