Placement and use
Set black raspberries along a fence, trellis, or purpose-built wire support, with the support running parallel to a path or open work strip. This keeps the canes from leaning into circulation space and makes pruning and picking easier. Give the planting its own row instead of threading it through a mixed border. Garlic, chives, and borage can be placed nearby; keep potatoes, tomatoes, fennel, and blackberries out of the same planting area.
