Placement and use
Give cowpea a defined bed edge or row with a path close enough for repeated picking and for checking the foliage as plants fill in. Bush selections suit an open block or broad row; vining selections need a sturdy trellis or other support placed at the back of the planting area so stems do not spill into circulation space. Corn, summer squash, carrots, and radishes can be included nearby in the plan. Keep its block separate from onions, garlic, and chives.
