Placement and use
Use dwarf fothergilla at the front or middle of a shrub border, beside a foundation with open planting space, or repeated through a native planting. Keep it behind low edging plants so its rounded form remains visible, and avoid placing it where a 3-foot-wide shrub would narrow a walkway or crowd a gate. A grouped planting gives the spring bloom and fall foliage more visual weight than a single isolated plant.[1][2]
