Place it in a sunny border or foundation bed where its full, shrub-sized outline can remain visible rather than being crowded between taller woody plants. A row can create a low flowering boundary, while groups of three or more give a broader mass along a driveway, fence, or open lawn edge. Keep the planting far enough from tight corners and narrow routes that there is room to reach the plant for routine work and maintain good air flow.

Set plants 4 feet apart, center to center, matching their expected 4-foot mature width. At that distance, a hedge will read as a continuous rhythm as plants fill out without forcing immediate overlap. For a foundation or mixed border, preserve a clear working strip in front of the shrubs and avoid placing them where their mature spread will project into a path, gate swing, or service area.

Reserve a full-sun position for the strongest flowering display and disease resistance. Plant in moist, well-drained soil, then water deeply and regularly rather than relying on frequent light sprinkling. Direct irrigation toward the root zone where possible, and leave the foliage with open exposure to dry after rain or watering.
