Ravenea rivularis
Majesty Palm is a tall, feather-leaved palm that develops an airy crown of arching fronds and can reach about 30 feet tall. Use it as a long-term vertical anchor rather than a filler plant: its presence is substantial even where the trunk occupies little ground space. Ravenea rivularis is native to southwestern Madagascar, where it grows as a tree in tropical conditions.[1]

The mature spread is about 12 ft (3.7 m), so plants set at that distance grow together into a continuous planting.
Treat 10 ft as a planning baseline — cultivar and local growing conditions shift the final footprint.
Place Majesty Palm toward the back or outer edge of a large bed, where its height can rise above lower planting without blocking access. Set it well away from roofs, overhead lines, narrow side yards, and patio seating that needs open headroom as fronds arch outward. A single palm can mark a bed corner, frame an entrance from a distance, or give a broad wall or fence a taller green backdrop. Keep nearby paths and service areas clear of the eventual crown.
Allow for a mature spread of about 12 feet, even though plants can be set 10 feet apart, center to center. At that interval, neighboring crowns will read as a connected screen or grove rather than isolated specimens. For a single palm near a path, reserve extra open space on the path side so arching fronds do not narrow circulation. Avoid squeezing it between permanent structures or packing shrubs tightly around its base.
Give this palm a partially sunny position with regular moisture. In a mixed border, place it where irrigation can reach the root zone consistently without routing hoses across paths or through dense planting. Its tall crown makes it best suited to a site where nearby plants do not depend on uninterrupted sun beneath or immediately beside it.
Majesty Palm is a perennial for USDA Zones 10 through 11, so treat it as a year-round structural plant where it is hardy. Its eventual 30-foot height makes relocation and replacement difficult once surrounding beds, paving, or structures are established. Confirm the mature clearance before using it beside low eaves, utility routes, or confined courtyards.
