Placement and use
Place the vine along a property line, at the back of a large fruit garden, or beside a path wide enough for pruning and picking access. Build the trellis before planting; a single high wire about 5 to 6 feet above ground keeps the trunk and fruiting arms within reach. Avoid letting the vine run into trees, dense hedges, overhead arbors, or mixed plantings where its permanent arms cannot be individually maintained.[1][2][3]
