Placement and use
Place Oriental poppy in the middle of a border or in a small repeated group beside a path, leaving a clear viewing line to its flowers without making it a year-round anchor. Reserve the space immediately behind or beside each clump for later-emerging perennials that can cover the opening after bloom. Avoid squeezing it into a narrow, exposed strip where fading foliage and an empty summer pocket will be especially conspicuous. In windy or rainy positions, allow room to add discreet support before stems lean outward.[1][2]
