Placement and use
Give quince a sunny, open position where a ladder-free harvest and winter pruning can be done from all sides. Set it toward the back or outer edge of a planting area rather than beside a narrow path, gate, or patio; its canopy needs room without turning circulation space into a work zone. Chives, garlic, borage, chamomile, and comfrey can be included nearby where their own size and access needs fit the plan. A sheltered, warm position with deep, fertile, moist but well-drained soil supports a productive tree. [1]
