Placement and use
Use Hibiscus syriacus as a hedge, screen, or upright flowering anchor where its height will not shade lower sun-loving beds. Set it behind lower shrubs and perennials, or run it along a property edge with enough setback to keep its mature canopy out of paths, gates, and windows. The upright, multi-stemmed form also works in a mixed border, but leave a reachable edge for spring pruning and for removing unwanted seedlings.[1][2]
