Placement and use
Use Camellia sasanqua where its height can form a leafy backdrop without closing off a path or window. A run along a fence, the back of a deep foundation bed, or the edge of a mixed shrub border gives it room to read as an evergreen mass. Keep the front edge of the planting reachable for grooming and allow enough open ground around the base that lower neighboring plants are not forced beneath its eventual canopy. A sheltered setting also helps protect the shrub from cold winter winds.[1][2]
