Placement and use
Place serviceberries toward the back or middle of a deep bed, where their 12-foot height can rise behind lower perennials and small shrubs. Use one as a focal shrub at a bed corner, or repeat several along a broad property edge with a clear planting band rather than squeezing them beside a narrow walk. Keep the base accessible from a path or lawn edge for seasonal attention, and allow the shrub to read as a permanent woody layer rather than temporary filler.
