Placement and use
Use Skimmia japonica in a shaded foundation bed, beneath an open tree canopy, or along a border where its evergreen form can hold the line after herbaceous plants fade. Its dense, mounded habit suits a repeated planting beside paths or as a low informal hedge, but keep the planting bed wide enough that its mature branches do not lean into circulation. A site with dappled light is especially useful where brighter planting would scorch or look out of place.[1][2]
