Placement and use
Give this crop a sunny position at the open side or back of a vegetable bed, where its branching canopy will not overrun shorter plants. Install a cage or stake at planting time to hold stems up, keep fruit within reach, and reduce its spread across paths or neighboring rows. Basil, carrots, parsley, onions, and lettuce can be included nearby; keep fennel and potatoes in separate parts of the plan.[1][2]
